Split-leaf philadendron growing
|
Watching a split-leaf philadendron grow from seed is quite
amazing. It is believed that the
split-leaf will only develop “split leaves” when it feels to have the right sun
and nutrients to prosper and grow.
As the initial leaves develop, they are whole, without any split
leaves. The plant grows larger,
and the leaves grow bigger.
The question is “Will the leaves split, and if so, when will the leaves
split?” When a new leaf comes out,
if comes from the stock of another leaf.
The split-leaf philadendron leaf grows big from within and then opens to
the world. The other leaves are
taking in the sun and the nutrients and the “inner leaf” which can’t be seen by
us is growing strong inside. And
when that leaf is ready to open, it comes out. It has used the energy the other leaves provided to grow on
the inside. The leaf came out and
it was a split leaf, and it was happy.
It was its first split leaf.
Yeah plant!
